Lam Adesina, Ex-Governor Of Oyo State Passes

Chief Lam Adesina, former governor of Oyo state and political heavyweight in the Southwestern Nigeria, is dead.Chief Adesina died on Sunday morning at the of age 73, following  complications from diabetes, that had kept him away from the public for some time.

In his honour, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has declared a seven- days mourning period.Ajimobi, who first broke the news on his Facebook page, said, the incident was regrettable but added that it was the will of God.

He described Alhaji Adesina as a National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the rallying point of ACN in Oyo State.

 According to him, the former governor died early on Sunday at the St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos following a protracted illness.

 "He would have been 74 next January," Governor Ajimobi stated.

 He said former governor's health had deteriorated recently, thus necessitating his admission first, to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and later, St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos.

 He added that Adesina would be buried same day at his Felele, Ibadan residence at 4 pm according to Islamic rites.

 "The state government has declared a seven-day mourning for the departed elder statesman and former teacher of Governor Ajimobi, during which all official state functions will be suspended and the national flag flown at half mast."
