Explosion rocks Defence Headquarters

A gas cylinder explosion at the Defence headquarters, Wednesday; caused pandemonium as soldiers and visitors to the defence Headquarters thought there was an attack.

Loud sound from the explosion sent people scampering for safety just as it raised a red alert among personnel.

A statement signed by Group Captain A. Makun for Director Defence Information, said ,that at about 1330hours (1:30pm) ,wednesday , there was an explosion at the Defence Headquarters restaurant kitchen.

The explosion was caused by the mishandling of a gas cylinder during refilling process. There was no loss of life or damage to property.

He urge the media to disseminate the information for the awareness of the general public who might have wondered what the cause of the loud explosion was.

The general public is advised to go about their normal activities without fear or trepidation.
